Syria

Since 2011 COSV has engaged in various humanitarian/development activities in Syria, with a formal registration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs brought into effect in 2022. With a ‘Whole of Syria’ approach, COSVs core mandate in Syria has been; advancing socio-economic & educational opportunities to a conflict-hit community. We believe that any step towards a humanitarian response and development planning in such a fragile, conflict-based context, needs to take into account the aspirations and suggestions of the local community. This belief fosters our strong inclination towards community engagement and co-design of programs wherever possible. In Syria, we work closely with our extensive network of partners while also executing end mile project implementations ourselves. Our sectoral focuses in Syria are: Livelihood & Food Security, Vocational & Technical Education, Governance & Peace Building, Cultural Heritage and Climate Action through the cross cutting approaches of social economy, social cohesion, vulnerability inclusion and the water-energy food nexus approach.
