SEERS – Supporting the Education Ecosystem for Recovery in Syria

Aim: With education as the fulcrum of positive change, project SEERS aims to enhance both social relations and economic development in Syria. Through an integrated approach, the project seeks to improve access to non-formal education, vocational training, and employment opportunities. It seeks to equip youth and education practitioners with the skills needed to bridge the gap between learning and the labor market, while fostering community resilience. A further component is to launch two community enterprises which is still a nascent space in Syria but with high propensity to foster meaningful change in Syria’s early recovery efforts.

Results: To ensure the achievement our goals in the education space, 47 educational centers received light rehabilitation support. This was important to attain safe and inclusive learning spaces for the benefit of the community. Once this was achieved, there were several ToT sessions and direct trainings conducted for education practitioners and youth on Psycho-social Support and Life Skills & Citizenship Education. There is also the establishment of 2 community enterprises and a youth led Labour Market Observatory to align education with market demands, fostering entrepreneurship and job creation. These interventions have been gender transformative with a high degree of social inclusivity.
