In the district of Machava, in the province of Maputo, the Center for Women and Children victims of violence – administered by Nhamai association – represents an important point of reference: since 2004, it offers psychological, legal and social support to women.
To improve the reception service and ensure the economic viability of the center, thanks to Association Silvana funding, we started a project that comprises the improvement of existing facilities, the construction of new dedicated areas and the opening of small income-generating activities.
The existing structure, where women are hosted, has been renovated and equipped; a new separate area for reception and administrative management has been constructed and equipped; and a new area dedicated to children has been built. Income-generating activities, such as poultry keeping, gardening, tailoring and hairdressing, have started involving Nhamai associates.
